Salmon in the Schools
We are seeking sponsorships from businesses and entities that wish to support our Salmon in the Schools program by funding fish tanks within this program! Each January, schools around the Skagit Watershed receive 200 coho eggs to place in a 55 gallon tank so that students can watch these incredible fish develop from eggs into fry. After the fish grow enough to be released into a local stream, students embark on a field trip to release their salmon so that they can begin their incredible journey out to sea and back. The students also engage in a service learning project at their release site, such as planting trees or removing invasive species like Himalayan blackberry.
The cost to fully operate a tank at a school is $2500. For a full $2500 sponsorship, the sponsoring business will:
- be promoted by Skagit Fisheries via a social media post
- be featured as a sponsor on our website
- be mentioned in an e-newsletter as being a sponsor
- have their business name and logo posted on a school’s fish tank, thanking them for making Salmon in the Schools possible.
Looking for another way to support this program? You can help by purchasing fish tank supplies. When you make an online purchase through the link below, the supplies will get shipped directly to us for use at schools.
