Internship Description
The Environmental Education Intern will assist with classroom lessons in Fall 2026, and field trip instruction in Winter/Spring 2027 for K-12 youth and community volunteer events throughout Skagit County. Content will focus on salmon ecology and fresh water habitat restoration.
This position takes place during the school day (generally 7:30am-3pm) and positions are available mid-September to mid-December, and mid February to mid-May. In addition to classroom lessons and field trips with elementary aged students, the Education Intern will assist with Saturday planting parties in Fall and Spring, and tabling at a few community events.
Qualifications
- An interest in stream ecology, salmon biology, and salmon habitat
- Comfortable working with children
- Comfortable working outdoors in adverse weather
- Organized, collaborative, and reliable
- A reliable vehicle and clean driving record
- Able to pass a background check
A stipend will be offered at $750/month (approximately 50 hours per month), for a total of $2,250 for 3 month positions.
