<li>Assist with Instream volunteer workshop on Saturday June 16</li>
<li>Accurately fill out all data sheets</li>
<li>Schedule work with volunteers and serve as team leader. Work with SFEG staff as directed to assist with the completion of other SFEG monitoring and restoration projects.</li>
<li>Submit volunteer timesheet monthly</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Desired Qualifications:  </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Interest inPacific Northwestsalmonids and their habitats</li>
<li>Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain in all types of weather.</li>
<li>Able to provide your own transportation (mileage from shop/office to survey sites will be reimbursed at State rate).</li>
<li>Self-directed, with good written and oral communications skills</li>
<li>Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word</li>
</ul>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Timeline and Product:</strong></p>
<p>The volunteer position begins in <strong>June </strong>and<strong> </strong>will be concluded <strong>September.  </strong>Internship time commitment may range from 100 &#8211; 300 hours total depending on interest and availability.  Work days will generally be M-Th, but may require occasional weekends. The intern will be required to furnish their own transportation to and from job sites when not working with SFEG staff. Mileage to and from theMount Vernon office will be reimbursed at the state mileage rate (currently $0.51/mile).</p>

<p>Join Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group (SFEG) for a free workshop Saturday, April 28th from 9am to 3pm to survey vegetation at restoration sites.  This workshop will be an introduction to identifying native and noxious plants, assessing plant health, and estimating coverage in riparian planting projects. Updates on the status of these plants help us determine the most effective practices for riparian revegetation projects.</p>
<p>The first half of the workshop will be held indoors, with outdoor practice in the afternoon. Volunteers will be asked to assist with monitoring at least one restoration site during the monitoring season.</p>
<p>Please dress for the weather and bring a lunch.  Snacks and drinks will be provided.  The workshop will be held at Cascade Job-Corps in Sedro-Woolley.</p>
<p>Registration is required to attend.  Please RSVP to Lucy DeGrace at 360-336-0172 or ldegrace@skagitfisheries.org.  Directions will be provided upon registration.</p>
<p><strong>UPDATE:</strong>  Unfortunately due to a lack of interest, we are cancelling our vegetation monitoring workshop this Saturday.  If you are still interested in volunteering to monitor vegetation, please contact Restoration Technician Andy Beckman at 770-3177 or at abeckman@skagitfisheries.org.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group, Swan Lake Watershed Enhancement Group, and Island County invite you to a public meeting to learn more about our proposed Swan Lake Enhanced Tidal Connectivity Feasibility Assessment.  The study is being funded by the Washington State  Salmon Recovery Funding Board, Island County Public Works and the Island County Conservation Futures Fund.  This will be the first of several public forums at which area residents can learn more about the project goals, provide input on local concerns, and help formulate desired project outcomes. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group seeks volunteers to lead hatchery tours at the WDFW Marblemount Hatchery this winter. </p>
<p>As a Hatchery Tour Guide, you’ll teach the public about fascinating facts of the Marblemount Hatchery and Skagit salmon during the 2011-12 eagle watching season. </p>

<p>After attending a workshop held on Saturday, December 3, 10am-3pm, volunteers sign up to lead hatchery tours on at least 2 weekend days throughout the season.  Tours will be offered every Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 4-Jan 29.  Over 1,000 visitors come each year to see eagles and learn about salmon and hatchery practices. </p>

<p> <strong>All events 10am-1pm </strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>November 5: Marblemount Boat Launch; </strong>Take Highway 20 east to Marblemount; <strong>Instead of following Hwy 20 around sharp corner to the left, go straight across Skagit River</strong> onto Cascade River Road.  Follow signs for parking at the boat launch on the right just over the bridge. </li>
<li><strong>November 12:</strong>  <strong>Thunder Creek, Alger;</strong> 3166 State Route 9; From Sedro Woolley, take Highway 9 North for 5.2 miles.   3166 is on the left just before crossing Thunder Creek.</li>
<li><strong>November 19: Larsen Memorial, Concrete;</strong> Go west on Highway 20 to Concrete.  Turn right onto Concrete-Sauk Valley Road across the Skagit River. Continue for 6 miles to the Larsen site on left (north) side of road.<strong></strong></li>
