| Thanks for a Great Planting Season! By Lucy Applegate Fall Planting Season has come to an end, and we would like to thank all of the energetic volunteers who helped plant over 1200 trees and shrubs at six different restoration sites throughout the Skagit watershed. This season we worked with groups such as Sedro Woolley High School Environmental Club, Skagit Valley College Environmental Club, Skagit Valley College American Cultural Exchange Language Institute, State Street High School SKY Program, and Everett Community College. I loved meeting so many new volunteers, in addition to seeing our beloved regulars. The majority of the trees we planted were grown in our native plant nursery, where they were watered and cared for throughout the summer by some wonderful nursery volunteers. Without the help of these folks our plants wouldn't survive in the hot July sun. |

In addition to those who nurtured and planted the plants, I would like to thank Fidalgo Bay Coffee and Burlington Thrifty for assisting with refreshments and Wizards of Ooze for assisting with a porta-potty. Feel free to check in with us from time to time to see how your plants are doing, and check our website in February for Spring Planting Party dates and locations. We thank you, and the salmon thank you for your hard work. See you next year! |
