Goodbye Dave!

This month SFEG bid a fond farewell to one of its long-time employees. Dave Holt, SFEG's Restoration Crew Supervisor, has decided to take a new job with the Whatcom County Sheriff's Department supervising one of their Alternative Corrections Crews. Dave has been an excellent and dedicated member of the SFEG team for over 6 years and we are very sorry to see him leave, but understand that all careers seek new opportunities.

Dave was hired as member of SFEG's very first professional restoration crew in 1996 when we received our first grant from the Jobs for the Environment program. This grant program was designed to retrain dislocated natural resource workers (such as loggers and fishers) with the skills to perform salmon enhancement projects. As a former forestry worker, Dave brought an excellent background to the organization and has contributed significantly to the overall success of the organization.

Dave has worked hard rain or shine (and often in snow and wind) with landowners and communities throughout Skagit County to implement salmon enhancement projects. The evidence of his teamwork with SFEG's crew and volunteers is shown throughout the watershed. And each fall as the salmon return to our streams, we hope that Dave can look back proudly on his accomplishments with SFEG and the salmon enhancement projects that were implemented under his leadership. Dave's abilities, innovation and resourcefulness (and humor) will be greatly missed by all those who worked with him.

The SFEG staff, board and volunteers thank Dave for his excellent service to the field of salmon restoration in Skagit County and wish him every success in his new position.
Farewell and good luck Dave!
