| Annual Meeting Celebrates a Year of Habitat Restoration
by Lucy Applegate On January 31 SFEG celebrated another great year of habitat restoration projects and the wonderful volunteers who help make it all possible. This year's Annual Meeting was held at the Burlington Community Center, and featured a talk by Skagit County Commissioner Ken Dahlstedt. The Commissioner talked of building partnerships to cooperatively work toward salmon conservation, a key component of our recently completed Mission Statement and Strategic Plan. Many local businesses and artists donated generously to our silent auction fundraiser, and the money raised will go toward future education and awareness programs in our watersheds. Board member Ken Urstad donated and grilled delicious salmon with the help of former Board member Bill Reinard. Our staff would like to thank all the volunteers, members, landowners, project partners, donors, and other supporters who celebrated with us. It is always a nice opportunity to touch base with the folks behind the scenes who we only see a few times per year. If you weren't able to attend this year, watch your mail in January and please try to join us next year. |
