Greetings! Spring is here bringing a new set of leaves to the trees and a new Executive Board to the SFEG. I would like to thank the former officers for getting the group to the best shape it’s been in and hope we can continue the progress. I would especially like to thank Dick Knight, the out-going President, for his dedication to the goals of SFEG. When Dick came to the Pacific Northwest just a few years ago salmon and their plight were new topics to him. He grew with this organization and is now recognized throughout the state as an outspoken champion for the resource. Dick has also been on the Board of the Regional Fisheries Enhancement Group Coalition, an association of 14 statewide affiliates and was just elected President of that group. Remember how much we appreciate you, Dick, when you’re stuck in the traffic between here and Olympia! Yes, one person can make a difference. To the other volunteers that make up this organization, whether you’re involved with stenciling storm drains on the street, planting trees along a stream, counting spawning salmon, or educating the public on the needs and benefits of salmon, or sitting on the Board of Directors, we appreciate you and look forward to this New Year with all the optimism that Spring usually brings. To the landowners that put their faith in SFEG, we promise to try and make you proud that you, too, have made a difference in the recovery of salmon stocks in our watersheds. |
