Salmon Home Improvements

SFEG has just wrapped up another great planting season. This spring 48 volunteers potted about 300 new trees at our nursery, and planted about 700 trees and shrubs at Fisher Creek Farm near Stanwood, and Bakerview Park in Mount Vernon. Included in this group was an outstanding class of 7th graders from Immaculate Conception School in Mount Vernon. This class went to Bakerview Park and not only planted nearly 100 plants; they also removed loads of the non-native invasive Himalayan blackberry and several huge bags of trash. Trumpeter Creek was given a makeover that day, and I know the salmon appreciate the effort! Thank you to all the great volunteers who helped with potting and planting. Thanks also to Krispy Kreme for donating glazed donuts, and to Red Apple and Skagit Valley Food Co-op for donating additional refreshments. And thank you to Wizards of Ooze; without you we would be up a creek! See you all next fall!
