Last Chance for Samish River Riparian Projects!

SFEG has a grant from the Salmon Recovery Funding Board for salmon habitat restoration projects in the Samish River watershed. This funding source expires in June 2005, and we are currently seeking landowners to participate in this voluntary non-regulatory effort. We can provide materials and labor to remove blackberries and reed canarygrass in the riparian zone, to plant native trees and shrubs, and to construct livestock fencing. Please pass this information along to your friends and neighbors who may own property along the Samish and its tributaries. Contact Perry Welch at (360) 419-9016 or pwelch@skagitfisheries.org with inquiries.

SFEG crew removed approximately 3 acres of the invasive Japanese knotweed from this Samish River site. SFEG crew and volunteers then planted hundreds of native trees and shrubs in its place.
